Carnival

When we think of Carnival, most people automatically think of Trinidad and Tobago which is acknowledged worldwide to be the Mecca of Carnival. It is our annual explosion of culture, colour, and creativity that spills off the formal stages and into the streets. In recent decades “the mas” as it has come to be known locally has become less intricate, with many revellers opting for much simpler costumes that allow for greater freedom of movement on the streets. The children’s carnival bands however have maintained a level of costuming that harkens back to the days of old and keep us rooted in our traditions.
